ADP043P - Advanced Digital Design Techniques - Brief
ADP43P - Advanced Digital Design Techniques - Introduction
The Intention for Advanced Digital Design techniques is for it to be an independent project based study on the future of digital design techniques. Most design environments deploy computers as the main medium for design and production. However, it’s rare that the computer is used for anything else but as an extended electronic pen. The computer however has the capacity to deal with complex reciprocal relationships, vast amounts of data, repetitions and variations in both design and production. Most CAD packages have developed the production side immensely whereas the design and organizational capacity of the computer has only been explored by a small number of avant-garde architects. The task for you is to develop your own techniques for deploying the computer as a powerful all encompassing design instrument.
The project is intended to be design based research with a complimentary literary research and write-up positioning your research in the relevant field. Care should be taken in presenting all graphic information and an attempt should be made to make all examples fully functional.
Your design technique should be fully presented in diagrams, models, simulations and/or animations and you have to develop an example of what your technique can deliver as in terms of a design.
